A park that preserves the site of Usuki Castle (臼杵城), built by the Sengoku-period warlord Ōtomo Sōrin (大友宗麟). Once an island called Nibu Island (丹生島) floating in the sea, the park retains historic structures including stone walls, the tiled turret, and the Ue-Tora Gate turret. The park grounds display a statue of Ōtomo Sōrin and a replica of "Kuni Kuずし" (国崩し), one of Japan's largest cannons. From the elevated vantage point, you can overlook Usuki's castle town and sea, making it perfect for a morning stroll in the crisp air. Also known as a cherry blossom viewing spot, the trees provide pleasant, cool shade. As a starting point for historical sightseeing, it's a park where families can stop by casually.

臼杵市佐志生の沖合に浮かぶ黒島にある海水浴場で、2026年は6月1日(月)から8月31日(月)までの開設です。佐志生港から渡船に乗って渡る、離島ならではの特別感が魅力。渡船は6時から18時まで運航し、往復運賃は中学生以上500円、3歳から小学生は250円です。7月4日(土)から8月末頃までは島に売店もオープンし、飲み物や軽食を購入できるので手ぶらでも安心。キャンプ場が併設されているため、テントを張ってのんびり1日を過ごす家族連れの姿も見られます。喧騒を離れた静かなビーチで、澄んだ海と磯遊びを夕方まで満喫しましょう。

Tips

佐志生港までは車でのアクセスが基本です。渡船の最終便は18時なので、着替えや片付けの時間を見込んで17時台には切り上げるのがおすすめ。売店は7月4日から8月末頃までの営業なので、それ以外の時期は飲み物や軽食を持参しましょう。日陰が少ないため、テントやパラソルがあると快適です。

Tips

About 10 minutes on foot from JR Usuki Station (JR臼杵駅). There is free parking available, making it convenient for a stop by car. Since there are stone steps and sloping paths, please select park paths where strollers can pass through.
