Hanaoka Fukutoku Inari Shrine (花岡福徳稲荷社)

Flow of the course

About this spot

An ancient shrine in Hanaoka, Kudamatsu City (下松市花岡), venerable enough that it is sometimes counted among Japan's three great Inari shrines alongside Fushimi Inari Taisha (伏見稲荷大社) and Toyokawa Inari (豊川稲荷). Characterized by an approach lined with vermilion torii gates and dignified shrine buildings, it is a worship spot fitting for praying for a safe family trip and safe sea bathing. The precincts have plenty of greenery, so it stays relatively cool even on a summer morning. As a place of faith rooted in the community, it is cherished by local people too. Once you have prayed, set off toward Kasado Island (笠戸島).

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Hanaguri Beach (はなぐり海水浴場). There is free parking. Parts of the precincts have steps, so watch your footing if you have a stroller.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. The early morning hours have fewer people and let you pray calmly.
