About this spot

A shopping street about 280 meters long, spreading out where the slope from Entsuji Park (円通寺公園) meets the town below. It's a good time to stroll leisurely along a street that retains a retro atmosphere from the Taisho and early Showa eras, snacking or having lunch as you go. The street still carries the calm feel of a port town, in keeping with Tamashima's history of prosperity dating back to the Edo period, and it's also a good place to sit down for a meal in a cool interior before swimming. Fill up here properly before you head into the afternoon's beach time.

Tips

Within walking distance of Entsuji Park (円通寺公園). The summer sun is strong during the day, so take breaks and stay hydrated. Restaurants can get crowded around lunchtime, so it's a good idea to arrive earlier, around 11am.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. Visiting around 11am, before the lunchtime crowd, goes smoothly.
