Just a short distance from Nakamura Beach, this is one of Okinoshima Town's signature scenic spots. The scenery formed by rugged, rocky cliffs and deep blue sea is among the most beautiful in the Oki Islands, and the cape is also known for a legend connected to the retired Emperor Go-Toba (後鳥羽上皇). From the viewing area you can enjoy a sweeping view of the Sea of Japan, and the scenery is especially refreshing in the clear morning air. It is a great place to sense the scale of Oki's nature before heading to the beach.
Tips
A walking path leads from the parking lot to the viewing area in just a few minutes. Some sections of the path are unpaved, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Hold the hands of young children to keep them from going beyond the fence while viewing.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. The morning hours have softer light, making for great photos too.
