Next stop: A stunning spot known as the Lighthouse of LoveAbout this spot
This ancient temple of the Shingi Shingon Buzan sect stands in Noma, Mihama Town, and its formal name is Odaido-ji. It is known as the place where Minamoto no Yoshitomo, father of Minamoto no Yoritomo, met his end, and Yoshitomo's grave is still carefully maintained within the temple grounds. The grounds, steeped in a long history, are enveloped in greenery, offering a fitting atmosphere for praying for the family's safe trip amid the morning quiet. Touching a bit of history before swimming makes for a start to the day that feels distinctly Chita Peninsula.
Tips
Located just a few minutes' drive from Noma Beach, making it an easy stop as the starting point of the course. The grounds have many historic buildings, so families with small children should watch out for stone steps and uneven ground.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. Visitor numbers are low in the early morning, so you can pray at a relaxed pace
