About this spot

About a 15-minute drive from central Motomachi, this park lets you connect with the nature and animals of Izu Oshima. The spacious Tsubakigahana Garden is lush with camellia trees, a symbol of the island, and the shady grounds are relatively comfortable even on a summer morning. The zoo area offers a chance to get up close with familiar animals, and even families with small children can walk around at an easy pace. It's a spot with an island-style relaxed atmosphere, perfect as a warm-up before swimming.

Tips

It's convenient to travel by car or bus from Motomachi Port. The grounds have some ups and downs, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Sunlight can be strong in summer, so bring a hat and something to drink as you walk around.
