About this spot

A striking rock formation approximately 29 meters tall that stands along the coast, a short distance from Habu Port. Its form, standing upright in the sea after enduring wave erosion, is known as one of the scenic spots representative of Izu Oshima. From the surrounding observation areas, you can enjoy the landscape unique to Izu Oshima, created by the contrast of blue sea and black lava rock. It is a memorable spot to visit with children, discussing "why did this shape form?" while observing it—a nature experience unique to the island. This impressive stop helps build excitement for the swimming beach that comes next.

Tips

Views are primarily from the observation points, and entry onto the rock formations is not permitted. Since parking is limited, be cautious of roadside parking during busy times. After taking photos, keep it brief and head to lunch for a smooth schedule.

Time required: approximately 30 minutes. It is recommended to stop by on the way to the swimming beach.
