Japan's southernmost rest stop, located in Itoman City, is a large complex featuring a products center, fresh agricultural market, and fish center. Itoman is historically known as the "umimchu" (fishermen's) town and Okinawa's premier fishing community. The Fish Center displays tuna and vivid tropical fish from local waters, with fresh seafood and ready-to-eat seafood snacks. The signature maguro katsu (fried tuna cutlet)—crispy outside, moist inside—is perfect for eating while you walk. The agricultural market offers Itoman-grown vegetables and fruits, while the products center stocks Okinawan souvenirs. It's a dynamic stop where you can feel the energy of local life.

Tips

Popular items at the Fish Center may sell out before evening, so visit in the early afternoon. Bring a cooler bag if taking seafood home. Facilities are spread across multiple buildings; start at the Fish Center. Wet wipes are handy for eating while walking.
