A stone arch bridge from the Edo period spanning the Machiyamaguchi River flowing through central Hondo. Characterized by a series of stone arches spanning about 28 meters, it's also known as a place related to the Shimabara Rebellion of Amakusa. The foot of the bridge is a grassy plaza where you can stroll leisurely along the river. Visiting in the cool morning hours lets you quietly experience the atmosphere of the historic townscape. Begin your day with a leisurely historical walk of Amakusa before swimming.
Tips
Located in the center of Hondo downtown with free parking spaces nearby. The bridge is pedestrian-only, safe even for small children. Summer has little shade, so don't forget hat and water.
Best time to visit
Takes about 45 minutes. Early morning around 10 AM is recommended for a leisurely walk.
