Located about a 10-minute walk from Matsuai Station, this museum introduces the life and works of Chiyo-jo (1703-1775), a prominent female haiku poet of the Edo period from Kaga. The exhibition features Chiyo-jo's handwritten haiku and historical documents, including her famous poem "Morning glory / The well bucket-entangled / I ask for water." The museum also includes a haiku garden with seasonal flowers and plants. The interior is bright and quiet, perfect for spending a cool summer morning. There's also a hands-on experience corner related to haiku that children can enjoy. It's an ideal starting point for a peaceful morning before heading to the beach.

Tips

Within walking distance of Matsuai Station. Summer parking is limited, so public transportation is also recommended. The air-conditioned interior is a great place to escape the heat.

Best time to visit

Takes about 1 hour. The museum is less crowded in the morning right after opening, allowing for a relaxed visit.
