About this spot
A beach in the Shimohama district of Akita City. In 2026 it will be open from July 19 (Sunday) to August 23 (Sunday) from 9 AM to around 4 PM. On sandy beaches with calm waves facing the Japan Sea, unlike large tourist beaches, you can enjoy water play in a relaxed atmosphere with your family. The beach hut has showers and flush toilets, so you can rest assured when changing or taking a break after water play. Enjoy water play and sandcastle building at the water's edge until evening, and make the most of Akita's summer.

Tips
Beach hut usage fees vary by shop, so check on-site signs. Beach sandals are essential as summer sand heats up. Business is until around 4 PM, so plan to wrap up around 3:30 PM accounting for changing time.

From around 1 PM in the afternoon the sun's intensity eases, allowing plenty of water play time until evening
