Overlooking the Sea from Akita Port's Symbol Tower
About this spot
Selion, a 143-meter-tall glass tower at Akita Port, is a representative observation spot in Akita City. From the observation floor, you can see the Japan Sea horizon, the view of Akita Port, and on clear days even Mt. Chōkai. On the first floor there's a gift shop dealing with Akita products, perfect for taking a cool break indoors before heading to the swimming area. The observation floor accessible by elevator is also popular with children, adding excitement to the beginning of your trip.

秋田市の桂浜海水浴場は、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月16日(日)まで開設されます。遊泳時間は9時から17時ごろまでで、遊泳は無料です。夏の期間中は海の家が6軒営業する予定で、休憩や食事、シャワーなどが利用できます。駐車場は500台分と広く用意されており、家族連れでも車で気軽に訪れやすいのも魅力です。日本海の開放的な景色の中、波打ち際での水遊びから砂遊びまで、夕方までたっぷり夏を満喫できます。
Tips
駐車場の利用料は1日500円です。遊泳時間は17時までなので、着替えの時間を見込んで15分前には切り上げるのがおすすめ。夏の砂浜は日中とても熱くなるのでビーチサンダルが必須です。海の家では飲食や休憩ができますが、混み合う時間帯もあるため早めの利用が安心です。
Tips
About 15 minutes by car from Akita Station. There's a free parking lot. The observation floor is air-conditioned, making it recommended as a rest spot on hot days.
Best time to visit
Takes about 1 hour. Early morning hours are less crowded and perfect for enjoying the views slowly
