About this spot

A shrine situated on a hilltop in Nishime Town, Yurihonjo City, known as the "Fushimi Inari of the West" for its distinctive landscape of approximately 250 red torii gates lining the approach path. Walking through the tunnel of torii gates feels like a small adventure, making it a popular photo spot where both children and adults enthusiastically take pictures. Long revered in the community as a deity of abundant harvests and prosperous business, the shrine is characterized by plenty of tree shade, making it easy to walk even on hot summer mornings. Pray for the safety of your day before heading to the beach.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from Nishime Beach. The approach path has gentle uphill slopes, so wearing comfortable walking shoes is recommended. Some sections of the torii gate passage are narrow, so hold hands with small children while walking.

Best time to visit

Takes about 1 hour. The morning before temperatures rise is cool and easy to walk—highly recommended.
