About this spot

A beach on the Japan Sea coast of Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture, opening from July 18 (Saturday) to August 11 (Tuesday), 2026 (early opening July 18–20, regular operation July 23–August 11). Swimming hours are from 9 AM to 4:30 PM, and admission is free. The beach has restrooms and parking for 150 vehicles, plus food trucks are planned during the season, allowing families to enjoy a full day with minimal preparation. Spend lazy afternoons playing gently in the shallow waves or building sandcastles on the beach, enjoying a relaxed Yurihonjo summer.

Tips

The 150-vehicle parking lot can fill up quickly on weekends or around the Obon holiday, so arriving with some buffer time is recommended. Food vendors are not permanent, so it's best to prepare drinks and snacks in advance at Michi no Eki Nishime or similar locations. Swimming time ends at 4:30 PM, so plan to finish by around 4 PM to allow time for changing.

Best time to visit

The afternoon from 1 PM onward has higher temperatures and warmer seawater, offering plenty of time to swim until evening.
