A museum on the Izura Coast (五浦海岸) in Otsucho, Kitaibaraki City, gathering works connected with Okakura Tenshin (岡倉天心), Yokoyama Taikan (横山大観) and the Japan Art Institute (日本美術院). Through the large windows of the exhibition rooms, the Pacific spreads out like a picture in a frame, so the building is designed to let you enjoy the paintings and the seaside scenery at the same time. The interior is air-conditioned, ideal for a cool morning in summer. Outdoors there is also an open space with benches where you can take a breather looking out at the sea. It is a quiet, comfortable starting point that builds anticipation for the beach ahead.

北茨城市の磯原地区にある海水浴場で、2026年は7月17日(金)から8月16日(日)まで開設されます。沖合に浮かぶ二つの岩礁「二ツ島」を望む景観が特徴で、写真映えする海岸として親しまれています。無料駐車場は約80〜100台分と広く確保されており、無料のシャワーも利用可能。ライフセーバーが常駐しているため、小さな子ども連れでも安心して海水浴を楽しめます。遊泳は無料。波打ち際での水遊びから砂遊びまで、夕方まで思いきり夏の海を満喫しましょう。

Tips

無料駐車場があるため車での来場もしやすいですが、夏の週末は早めの到着がおすすめです。シャワーは無料ですが、着替えスペースは混み合うことがあるのでラッシュガードなど脱ぎ着しやすい服装が便利。ライフセーバーの指示には必ず従い、遊泳エリア内で楽しみましょう。

Tips

The interior is air-conditioned, so bringing something to put on over your clothes makes it more comfortable. The outdoor viewpoints get strong sun, so a hat is reassuring. There are many slopes around the building, so with a stroller access from the main entrance is smoothest.
