Located 15 minutes by car from Maehama Beach in Minami-Shimabara's Minami-Arima, Hara Castle Ruins are known as the setting of early Edo period Shimabara Rebellion (1637-1638) and registered as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in 2018 as "Hidden Christian Heritage of Nagasaki and Kumamoto." Though old towers no longer remain, stone walls and main bailey ruins sprawl across hills overlooking Ariake Bay as a well-developed historic site park. With grassland-covered main bailey remains, it's easy to walk—ideal for young children. Perfect for starting your day while experiencing history before beach fun.

南島原市加津佐町にある前浜海水浴場は、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月30日(日)まで、9時から17時まで開設されます。橘湾に面した穏やかな海と広い砂浜が特徴で、無料駐車場が約120台分用意されているため、車での家族連れの訪問にも便利です。海水浴エリアとは別にマリンスポーツ専用区域が設けられ、SUPやカヌーを楽しむこともできます(水上バイクの利用は禁止されています)。波打ち際でのんびり水遊びをする子どもから、マリンスポーツに挑戦したい家族まで、それぞれのペースで夏の海を楽しめるビーチです。

Tips

遊泳時間は17時までなので、着替えや帰り支度の時間を見込んで16時45分ごろには切り上げるのがおすすめです。マリンスポーツを楽しみたい場合は、専用区域内かどうかを事前に確認しましょう。日陰が少ないので、パラソルやテントがあると快適に過ごせます。

Tips

Paved roads lead from parking to main bailey—walkable with strollers. Limited shade in summer, bring hat and water. Visit adjacent Arima Christian Heritage Museum (fee-based) first to help children understand history better.
