Matsushiro Castle Ruins is said to be the site of a flat castle built by Takeda Shingen, a military commander during the Warring States period, as a base for his conquest of northern Shinano. During the Edo period, it was developed as the residence of the Sanada clan (lords of Matsushiro with a 100,000 koku fief), and today portions of the main citadel, moats, and stone walls have been restored and opened free to the public as a historic site park. The spacious lawn where the main citadel once stood offers good views and an open feeling perfect for leisurely walks with small children. The moat is particularly beautiful when lotus flowers bloom seasonally, allowing you to enjoy seasonal changes while exploring history. The relaxed townscape typical of castle towns spreads around the area, making this an ideal stop for a peaceful time before playing freely at the pool.

2026年は7月18日(土)から8月23日(日)まで、10時から16時まで営業する長野市の屋外レジャープールです(期間中休場日あり)。目玉は25mの変形プールで、泳ぎたい子どもも水遊び中心の子どもも自分のペースで楽しめます。44mの円筒型と63mの半円筒型、2本のスライダープールはスリル満点で、小学生に大人気です。小さな子ども連れには水深の浅いちびっこプールと親水エリアが安心で、家族みんなが年齢に合わせて水遊びできる作りになっています。料金は小中学生150円、一般450円と手頃で、当日券のみの気軽さも魅力です。お昼に入場すれば、営業終了の16時までたっぷり4時間、水遊びを満喫できます。

Tips

Free parking is available adjacent to the tourist information office. The grassy plaza has little shade, so walking during the cooler morning hours is recommended. Many historic sites and attractions surround the area, including samurai residences and the Sanada mansion, but this course focuses on castle ruins exploration to leave time for other activities.
