About this spot

A long, gently sloping sandy beach stretching about 1km along the coast in Nio-cho, Mitoyo City. At low tide, the tidal pools that appear mirror the sky on windless evenings like a mirror, earning it the name "Japan's Uyuni Salt Lake" - a spectacular sight. During the magical hour around sunset, the sky and sea are painted in shades of crimson, and the inverted silhouettes reflected on the water's surface become a perfect picture. Around the beach, you'll find scattered cafes and shops housed in renovated old houses, allowing you to spend time waiting for sunset in a relaxed atmosphere with a drink in hand - a delightful aspect for a date. Stand together at the water's edge and capture a memorable photo that seems to float in this mirrored world.

Tips

The best time to capture mirror-reflection photos is during the magical hour when low tide coincides with sunset in calm evening conditions. Check the tide table before your outing. If you venture into the tidal pools, bring a towel and spare footwear. Since the parking lot becomes crowded at dusk, arriving early is recommended.

Best time to visit

Approximately 2-3 hours. Arrive on the beach about an hour before sunset and slowly experience the magical changes in light during the golden hour.
