Wakimoto Beach in Akune City, Kagoshima Prefecture, is a beloved local beach open in 2026 from July 4 (Sat) through August 31 (Mon), 8:30am to 5pm. Free parking for 50 cars, plus restrooms and a beach house, make it easy for families to get ready. After exploring Akune's highlights in the morning, the afternoon is finally the sea's time to shine. From splashing in the shallows to building sandcastles on the beach, you can enjoy yourself to the fullest until evening.

Tips

Parking is free for 50 cars. With restrooms and a beach house on site, you won't have trouble finding a place to change or rest. The beach closes at 5pm, so we recommend wrapping up around 4:45pm to allow time for changing. Please follow the on-site signage for fee details.

Best time to visit

In the early afternoon, after 1pm, you'll already be fueled up from the roadside station, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the sea until evening.
