About this spot

This is the terminus of the JR Mugi Line (JR牟岐線), located in Toyo Town (東洋町) at the easternmost point of Kochi Prefecture. Its charm lies in the station building's atmosphere, as if marking the point where the line running from the Tokushima direction comes to an end, a fitting spot to mark a turning point in your trip. From the platform, the surrounding mountains and the scenery of Toyo Town spread out, making it a memorable stop even for train-loving children. It's about a 10-minute drive to Shirahama Beach (白浜海水浴場), so it fits naturally as the starting point for the day.

Tips

There are no large commercial facilities in front of the station, so it's a good idea to bring drinks and light snacks in advance. Parking space is limited, so avoid parking for a long time, take your photos and then head to the next spot.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. In the early morning, trains arrive and depart less frequently, so you can take your time looking around
