About this spot
Shirahama Beach in Kuchinotsu-cho, Minamishimabara City, is open in 2026 from Saturday, July 18 through Sunday, August 30, with swimming hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. From the sandy beach facing the Ariake Sea, you can look out toward the Amakusa Islands, and because it's a quiet inlet the waves are gentle, creating an environment families with small children can enjoy with peace of mind. The beach has a rule banning all marine sports and jet skis, which also helps keep the swimming area safe. About 100 free parking spaces are available, making access by car convenient too. Enjoy the summer sea to the fullest until evening, from playing at the water's edge to building sandcastles.
