Climb the Ancient Battlefield Where History Unfolded, Enjoy Sweeping Views from the Lookout

About this spot

The mountain is famous as the ancient battlefield of the 1582 Battle of Yamazaki, where Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Akechi Mitsuhide struggled for supremacy and the fate of the nation. The trail from the base is well-maintained and appreciated by families as an easily walkable hiking course. Hatataechomatsu Park at mid-elevation features an observation deck with sweeping views of the Kyoto Basin, Yodo River, and the surrounding townscape around Tennozan. It's a uniquely Oyamazaki spot offering both historic exploration and nature appreciation simultaneously.
