An ancient temple reportedly founded in the Nara Period, also affectionately known as Takaradera. Located near the Tennozan trailhead, the three-story pagoda reportedly built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in a single night after the Battle of Yamazaki is a notable sight. The temple grounds, surrounded by greenery, offer a quiet atmosphere perfect for resting a body heated from hiking. Enjoy a peaceful afternoon within the serene ambiance of this historic temple.

Tips

Located about 20 minutes walk down the Tennozan hiking trail from Hatataechomatsu Lookout. Temple grounds are open to visitors at no charge. As evening approaches, the humid heat dissipates, making this an ideal rest time.

Approximately 30 minutes. A recommended stop on the hike's descent.
