About this spot

A museum sharing the history of the Murakami Pirates (Innoshima Murakami Clan) who were active in the Seto Inland Sea during the Warring States period. Inside the castle-like structure, exhibits showcase armor and pirate-related artifacts, and from the reconstructed tower you can overlook Innoshima's sea and surrounding islands. While pirates may seem fierce, these exhibits reveal they were actually a maritime warrior clan that served as pilots and maritime traffic guides in the Seto Inland Sea. This is a family-friendly spot to discover Innoshima's unique maritime history. Situated on a hilltop, the pleasant sea breeze makes even summer comfortable.

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Shimanami Beach. Stone steps and slopes are present, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Remember to stay hydrated in summer. About 10 minutes by car to the next destination, Innoshima Flower Center.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour. Morning through early afternoon offers relatively comfortable conditions.
