About this spot

A shrine long cherished as the guardian deity of Kuroki-machi, this year's fireworks display is also held around these very grounds. The approach, surrounded by cedar groves, stays cool even in summer, and the quiet grounds offer a calming time. Though crowded with people at night, this place shows a peaceful face when visited during the day. Before waiting for the fireworks, pay your respects to the local guardian deity first.

Tips

Within walking distance of the Great Wisteria of Kuroki (黒木の大藤) and Honmachi Street (本町通り). Visiting the shrine grounds is free. Since it gets crowded with fireworks viewers from evening onward, this earlier time is recommended for a visit.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. The heavily shaded grounds stay relatively comfortable even on a summer afternoon.
