Next stop: Cool Off with a Light Meal on the Rocky Shore and Stake Out a Spot Early for the FireworksAbout this spot
A historic hot-spring town that opened on Izu's east coast, lined with ryokan inns and souvenir shops along its sloping streets. Walking the slopes while feeling the scent of the sea, you can sense the charm of Inatori, a town with two faces: a port town and a hot-spring town. As evening approaches, the lights of the ryokan inns begin to come on, wrapping the area in an atmosphere full of travel mood. Stopping by a small shop you happen to find along the way is also a pleasure unique to this area. Take this time to slowly savor the air of the hot-spring town before tonight's fireworks dance.
Tips
Since the area has many slopes, wear comfortable, easy-to-walk shoes. The daytime heat can linger in summer, so take frequent breaks and stay hydrated. Head down the slope on foot to the next stop, the Inatori East Coast.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. This is the time of day when the ryokan district's atmosphere builds toward evening
