About this spot

A rockfill dam built on the Katsura River of the Yura River system, boasting one of the largest scales in the Kinki region. The reservoir is called 'Rainbow Lake,' with its calm waters reflecting the surrounding verdant mountains. There are sections where you can walk across the dam body, and both children and adults will be amazed by the sheer size of the dam up close. Even in summer, the mountains maintain relatively cool temperatures, providing a refreshing experience perfect for starting your journey.

2026年7月25日(土)開催、南丹市日吉町の夏を彩るなんたん龍の森夏まつりwith花火のクライマックスです。20時ごろになると、周囲を山に囲まれた会場の夜空に花火が上がり始めます。森の緑と山の稜線を背景にした花火は、都市部の大会とはひと味違う静かな迫力があります。ダム見学から森歩き、水遊びまで自然をたっぷり満喫した1日の締めくくりにふさわしいひとときです。

荒天時は中止・内容変更の可能性があるため、当日の開催可否は南丹市の公式発表で確認を。終了後は駐車場が混雑するため、少し余韻を楽しんでから帰路につくのがおすすめです。

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from the Tanba Interchange on the Kyoto Longitudinal Expressway. Admission is free. Even in summer, as this is a high-altitude area, it's reassuring to have a light jacket for mornings and evenings.
