About this spot

A prefectural forest park spreading through the northern part of Ichijima-cho; the Maeyama Plateau (前山高原), characterized by its vast lawn plaza, is popular as a spot for camping and outdoor activities. This open plateau, surrounded by mountains, is perfect for family activities such as flying kites or playing ball. Since it sits at a somewhat higher elevation, it remains relatively comfortable even in summer, making it a great spot to play freely after touring temples.

Tips

About a 15-minute drive from Tokugen-in. Opening hours vary by facility within the park, so it is reassuring to check in advance. There is little to block the sunlight, so do not forget a hat and something to drink.
