About this spot

A vast prefectural park within Minami-Boso Quasi-National Park, located on Futtsu Cape, a narrow strip of land jutting into Tokyo Bay. The Meiji Centennial Memorial Observation Tower at the tip of the cape has a unique shape modeled after a pair of binoculars, and from the top you can sometimes see all the way to the Miura Peninsula and Mt. Fuji across Tokyo Bay. The park, spread with pine groves and lawns, is well-suited for both strolling and play, and the view here - where Tokyo Bay narrows more than elsewhere - is a highlight unique to this spot. Futtsu Beach (富津海水浴場), where tonight's fireworks will be launched, is also nearby.

Tips

The observation tower is free to enter and climb. Sunlight is strong in summer, so don't forget a hat and something to drink. It's a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the tower, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. From morning into midday, when the air is clear, you can see distant scenery well.
