About this spot

One of the 'o-ji shrines' scattered along the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi route, a place where Kumano pilgrims have long prayed for safe journeys. The Chikaro settlement spreads around it, allowing visitors to experience the World Heritage atmosphere by actually walking part of the ancient path. The quiet trail through cedar groves offers a respite from urban hustle and bustle.

2026年7月25日(土)開催、熊野古道中辺路町栗栖川で行われる清姫まつりの花火です。世界遺産・熊野古道が通るこの地域ならではの静かな山あいの夜空に、花火が打ち上がります。周囲を山に囲まれた立地のため、街の花火大会とはひと味違う、山にこだまする音と光の迫力を体感できます。1日をかけて古道を歩いたあとに見る花火は、旅の締めくくりにふさわしい時間です。

Tips

山あいの会場のため、夜は想像以上に冷えることがあります。荒天時の開催可否は事前に確認しましょう。帰り道は足元が暗いため、ライトを準備しておくと安心です。

Travel by car from the roadside station. Mountain roads require comfortable walking shoes. Though summer brings plenty of shade, hydrate frequently.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. Afternoon when sunlight is gentle is the easiest time for leisurely walking.
