This area preserves an oji shrine along the Kumano Kodo and Nonaka-no-Shimizu, a famous spring that has quenched the thirst of travelers since ancient times. Surrounded by towering cedar trees that seem to pierce the sky, clear water still flows here today. Beside this spring, selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Waters, you can feel the crisp mountain air and the refreshing coolness of the water.
Tips
Travel here by car from Chikatsuyu-oji. The spring water is also used by local residents for daily life, so please use it respectfully. The area has plenty of shade, making it comfortable even in summer.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. The afternoon, when sunlight filters through the trees, is especially beautiful
