Sendai Station, the gateway to Miyagi Prefecture, is a convenient starting point for your trip, with plenty of restaurants and shops in the station building and underground mall. You will not be short of lunch options, with Sendai specialties such as beef tongue and zunda (sweet mashed edamame) widely available. It is also a great spot for souvenir shopping, making it the perfect place to soak up the city's energy at the start of the day. From here, you will head toward Iwakiri by train or bus.
Tips
The area around the station is always crowded, so allow plenty of time for lunch. You can travel toward Iwakiri via the JR Senseki Line or Tohoku Main Line.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. Restaurants in the station building get crowded around lunchtime, so arriving early is recommended.
