About this spot

This is the riverbed of the Yoshii River (吉井川), where the fireworks are launched at night. It's a clear stream flowing through northern Okayama Prefecture, and the area around Mimasaka City (美作市) offers beautiful scenery ringed by lush mountains. Walking here during the day makes it easier to picture where you'll want to watch from at night. The summer river breeze feels pleasant, making it a great place to soothe the fatigue of touring the hot springs too.

Tips

Travel by car from the Yunogo Onsen (湯郷温泉) hot spring district. The area gets crowded with people claiming spots from evening onward, so scouting it out at this time is useful if you want to secure a good viewing spot.
