Leisurely strolling through a national historic site mountain castle ruins

About this spot

A national historic site known as the stage of "Kunohe Masasane no Ran" (the Kunohe Rebellion), a conflict between the Nambu and Kunohe clans in the late Sengoku period. The vast castle grounds still bear traces of earthen ramparts and moats, and in summer you can leisurely walk around the castle ruins surrounded by greenery. Although no grand structures remain, following the undulating terrain allows you to experience the scale of a Sengoku-period mountain fortress. Perfect for history-loving families and anyone who enjoys a pleasant walk through wide grassy areas.
