A memorial museum introducing the life and achievements of Takano Choei, a scholar of Western studies (Rangaku) born in Mizusawa. Through exhibited materials, you can learn about this local great figure who studied Western scholarship during the Edo period and influenced Japan's modernization. The compact building makes it easy to visit even for a short time. Following your learning at the Space Study Hall, this is a time to appreciate Mizusawa's appeal from a historical perspective as well.
Tips
About a 10-minute drive from Oshu Space Study Hall. The museum is mainly exhibit-based, so it is a place for quiet viewing. Next, you will head to the venue, Isawa Culture Creation Center.
