The banks of the Katsuura River flowing through Katsuura Town are a familiar natural spot where local families enjoy water play in summer. The clear water flowing through the mountains remains pleasantly cool even in midsummer, and simply wading in the river provides refreshment. After enjoying historical exploration at Tsururin-ji Temple, it's perfect for an active break.

Tips

Water flow and depth vary by location, so supervise small children carefully. Prepare clothing, towels, and spare clothes that can get wet. Avoid entering the water if the river is swollen.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes needed. Late afternoon when the sun is less intense is most comfortable for water play.
