This is Fukizutsu Fireworks, a traditional local event handed down in the Aioi district of Naka Town. Unlike launched fireworks, it's a bold performance in which gunpowder packed into large bamboo tubes shoots up flames and sparks all at once, and the pillar of light rising into the mountain valley's night sky is truly striking. It's a valuable experience unique to Naka Town, letting you watch up close a traditional skill passed down by local people. According to Naka Town Tourism Association's annual event listing, it is customarily held around mid-August each year, so please check with the town or the tourism association in advance for the 2026 date and venue.
