The Naka River flowing through Motegi Town is known as a famous production area for sweetfish raised in clear streams. In summer, traditional fish traps called 'yanae' are set up in the river, and facilities operate where you can enjoy freshly caught sweetfish grilled over charcoal. Tasting sweetfish dishes while listening to the murmur of the clear stream is a quintessential summer sight in Motegi. There are also places to enjoy playing in the river, where families can spend leisure time.

Tips

Operating periods and hours vary by season, so it's good to confirm in advance. The riverbank has slippery spots, so be careful. Move to the evening fireworks venue with plenty of time to spare.
