The Naka River flowing through Motegi Town is known as a famous production area for sweetfish raised in clear streams. In summer, traditional fish traps called 'yanae' are set up in the river, and facilities operate where you can enjoy freshly caught sweetfish grilled over charcoal. Tasting sweetfish dishes while listening to the murmur of the clear stream is a quintessential summer sight in Motegi. There are also places to enjoy playing in the river, where families can spend leisure time.

祇園祭とともに受け継がれてきた、茂木町の夏を代表する祭りの花火大会です。茂木城跡の城山公園を会場に、約5,000発の花火が夜空を彩ります。城下町らしい町並みを見渡す高台からの花火は、地域の歴史と夏祭りの熱気が重なる特別な光景です。荒天の場合は翌7月26日(日)に順延されるため、天候にあわせて予定を立てやすいのも安心なポイントです。

荒天時は7/26(日)に順延される場合があるため、当日の開催可否は茂木町の公式発表で確認しましょう。終了後は周辺道路が混み合うため、少し時間をずらして帰るのがおすすめです。足元が暗くなるので、小さな子ども連れは懐中電灯があると安心です。
