Shiroyama Park (城山公園), located in the central part of Oyama City, is a historic park that was developed from the ruins of Gion Castle (祇園城跡), which was built by the Oyama clan in the Muromachi period. The remains of earthen walls and moats are preserved throughout, allowing visitors to walk while feeling the weight of history. The spacious gardens are filled with trees, and in early October, the autumn greenery is pleasant, making it ideal for families to take leisurely walks. You can also feel the flow of the adjacent Omokawa River, and experience the atmosphere of tonight's fireworks venue during the daytime. There are also open grass areas where children can run around, making it perfect for a digestion walk after lunch.

Tips

About 15 minutes walk from Oyama Station (小山駅), or a few minutes by bicycle or car. Admission is free. Check the locations of restrooms and parking lots in the park in advance, as this information will be helpful for your return trip at night. It's efficient to have lunch near the station or close to the park before heading to this location.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. From mid-morning to early afternoon in October, the sunlight is gentle and ideal for strolling.
