A 7-Kilometer Stretch of White Sand - The Orient's Finest Beach

About this spot

Stretching approximately 7 kilometers along Miyakojima's southwestern coast, this signature beach is acclaimed as "the whitest sandy beach in the Orient." The flour-fine powdered sand is pleasant even when walked barefoot, and the shallow waters display a beautiful gradient from emerald to the deep blue of the distant horizon. Directly ahead stand Kima Island and the elegantly arching Kima Ohashi Bridge. While the beach bustles with water sports activities, simply strolling along the waterline or settling onto the white sand to gaze at the sea offers a luxurious escape.

Tips

There is minimal shade, so sunscreen and a hat are essential. The fine sand easily enters shoes, making easily removable sandals practical. Bring a towel for rinsing off after wading. The beach is just a short walk from the free parking lot.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1 hour. The contrast between white sand and Miyako Blue is most striking when the sun is high during midday.
