Walk Through Traditional Mountain Village with Thatched-Roof Houses
About this spot
A settlement selected as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings, where L-shaped thatched-roof houses continue as family residences. These magariya houses, with mother house and horse stable integrated, are unique architectural styles of the Aizu region continuing from the Edo period, conveying the mountain village lifestyle to the present day. Since residents actually live here, quiet observation is respectful.
