South of Matsumoto Castle, this charming street features buildings with white-walled clay warehouse-style architecture. The townscape preserves the character of the former merchant town, with Japanese craft shops, cafes, and renovated warehouse shops lining the street, making it enjoyable to simply stroll around. Local specialty sweets and light meals are plentiful, making it perfect for a rest stop after visiting Matsumoto Castle. Taking commemorative photos with the historic townscape as a backdrop is also recommended.
