About this spot

A museum in Miyoshita Town at the base of Mt. Asama, displaying numerous Jomon-era pottery and stone tools unearthed in this region. The impressive forms of Jomon pottery, including flame-shaped pottery, captivate both adults and children. The exhibits clearly introduce the daily life of Jomon people, allowing visitors to feel close to the history of people who lived in this land in the distant past. A popular spot for summer vacation research projects.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Shinano Railway Miyoshita Station. The museum interior is cool, making it recommended as a rest break during hot summer hours. The next destination, Komoro Castle Ruins Nostalgic Garden, is about 15 minutes by car away.

Takes about 1 hour. Early afternoon is relatively leisurely for viewing.
