It takes place over four periods, 20 days in total: July 20 to 24, July 27 to 31, August 3 to 7, and August 17 to 21, and although brief, it is beloved by travelers and locals alike as fireworks that color the hot spring town's night sky. The night view created by fireworks against the rising steam of the hot spring town is a scene full of charm unique to Misasa Onsen. It makes for a short but memorable finale to the day.

Tips

The event may be canceled in case of bad weather, so check Misasa Onsen tourism information on the day for whether it will be held. The launch site is upstream of the bridge (恋谷橋), and entry to the riverbed is prohibited. The streets of the hot spring town get crowded after the event ends, so it's recommended to enjoy the afterglow for a while before heading back at a staggered time. Bring a light, as it can be dark underfoot.
