A small park on the midslope of Mt. Otoko, northwest of Himeji Castle, known among locals as a hidden viewpoint. From the top of the stone steps, you can overlook Himeji Castle's main keep in a unique angle, with particularly beautiful views during sunset. This off-the-beaten-path spot, favored more by locals than tourists, allows you to savor the scenery without crowds. Imprint the daytime image of Himeji Castle from this high vantage point in your memory before the evening's fireworks.
Tips
About 20 minutes on foot from Himeji Castle. The viewpoint involves climbing stone steps, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. If traveling with a stroller, don't push yourself; the view from the base is equally enjoyable.
