This old temple, said to have been founded in the Nara period, conveys the history of Hojo-cho, Kasai City together with the adjacent Sumiyoshi Shrine (住吉神社). The vermilion-lacquered tahoto pagoda rising within the grounds is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, and its beautiful form set against the green trees is well worth seeing. It's also close to the Five Hundred Rakan, so visiting both lets you experience Kasai's old townscape and history of faith. Away from the hustle and bustle, this quiet temple ground is the perfect place to catch your breath on a summer afternoon.
Tips
About 5 minutes on foot from the Five Hundred Rakan. It's recommended to visit the adjacent Sumiyoshi Shrine at the same time. The grounds have little shade, so bringing a parasol or hat in summer is reassuring.

About 45 minutes. As it nears evening, the sunlight softens, making the grounds easier to walk around
