Watch about 3,000 fireworks launched over the lake, reflected on the still water
About this spot
Held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, this fireworks display takes place over the waters of Lake Abashiri. About 3,000 fireworks launched from the lake fill the vast Hokkaido night sky. On calm, windless nights, the fireworks' light reflects on the still lake surface, creating the beautiful effect of seeing two fireworks displays at once. Looking up at the fireworks at night, by the same lakeshore you visited during the day, makes for a special way to end the day.

The event may be canceled or postponed in bad weather, so check the organizer's official announcement on the day. Hokkaido nights can be chilly even in midsummer, so don't forget a light jacket. Parking lots and roads get congested after the show ends, so allow plenty of extra time to leave.
Best time to visit
Time your visit to the 7:00-8:00 PM show. On calmer, low-wind evenings, you can also enjoy the fireworks reflected on the lake
