About this spot

This roadside station (michi-no-eki) serves as the gateway to Higashikawa-cho, located at the foot of Mt. Taisetsu. It has a shop stocked with fresh vegetables and specialty goods grown in town, as well as a restaurant using local ingredients, making it a perfect place to fuel up at the start of your trip. The building, with its warm wood tones, is wrapped in the calm atmosphere characteristic of Higashikawa-cho. Ahead of the festival, start by enjoying a relaxed lunch here.

Tips

About 30 minutes by car from the Asahikawa area. The parking lot is fairly spacious, but it can get crowded on summer weekends. The rest area inside is designed to be comfortable even with small children.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. It's relatively calm from morning through midday.
