This square faces Shin-Nanyo Station on the JR Sanyo Main Line. Shin-Nanyo was its own city until it merged with Tokuyama City and others in 2003 to form Shunan City, and this station serves as the area's gateway. Around the station, restaurants and shops rooted in the local community line the streets, making it a good place to grab a bite after playing at the zoo. On the day of the summer festival, the crowds around the station grow larger than usual, giving the area a lively summer atmosphere.
Tips
About 20 minutes by bus from Tokuyama Zoo to Shin-Nanyo Station. There aren't many shops in the area, so if you have one in mind, it's recommended to go in early.

About 1 hour. A somewhat later time in the afternoon makes it easier to avoid crowds
