The plaza in front of the Nyukawa Branch Office (丹生川支所), the fireworks venue, comes alive from evening with summer-festival food stalls and Bon dance. Enjoy local food and drinks while soaking up the warm festival atmosphere unique to a mountain-valley town. Spread out a picnic sheet to claim your spot, then relax and watch the sky darken as you wait for the fireworks to begin.

Tips

About 20 minutes by car from the roadside station Michi-no-Eki Mondeus Hida Kuraiyama (道の駅モンデウス飛騨位山). Roads and parking around the area get crowded on the day of the festival, so arriving early is recommended. There are many insects at night, so bring insect repellent.

Best time to visit

About 3 hours needed. The changing color of the sky toward sunset is also one of the highlights of this festival
